About: Latilla is a fencing style commonly seen in Northern NM. Latilla are 6 to 12 ft. tree trunks of young Aspen, Ponderosa Pine, various Spruce & Fir, or, Western Juniper. They are used mixed or single species, w/ the bark on or off. Latilla are harvested by permit in the National Forests of the Sangre de Christo Mtns., the Brazos, and the Tusas Mtns. These Ranges are the termination of the Rockies in New Mexico.

About: Latilla is a noun used in Northern NM. I have heard "latilla" used in the singular to reference a single pole or multiple poles. Also, to describe this style of privacy fencing, or, when describing a shade structure's roof component constructed w/ latilla.
