July 2021 -    I am in Town until November!

My image was selected for the "2021 Taos Banner Competition".  Over 60 winning images are on display from May until mid-November 2021 on street poles around Taos.  Winning images represent the wide variety of 2-D and 3-D artwork produced by artists living in Taos County.

Taos Arts Council manages and juries the "Taos Banner Competition".  The Council works in conjunction with The Town of Taos and The Taos Business Consortium.  Taos Arts Council’s mission is to be a central hub of information and support for artists working in all visual media, literature and the performing arts in & around Taos.

Yes, my painting does have a "skull" on Taos Pueblo Mtn.  Visible from miles away and in all seasons, there is a distinct skull-pattern on the SW Face.  This photo was taken after a late-March snowfall from the north-end of Taos before entering the Taos Pueblo Reservation.



Again, the 2021 “Taos is Art” Banners will be up until the snow flies in November.

Nov. 2020 -  Three Paintings Selected for "Taos Today" Exhibition

Three paintings from the "Latilla Series" will join the "Taos Today" exhibition.  The exhibition is hosted by Western Gallery in cooperation with the Taos Arts Council.  "Taos Today" will be on-line starting November 13th though January 5th, 2021.  

100 works have been selected representing more than 40 local artists and two Taos galleries.  "Taos Today" includes a wide range of 2-D & 3-D work in a variety of media, styles and subject matter.

“Artes des Descartes”  (Spanish for "Arts from Discards") was named by its founder, Melissa Larson, as a “tip of the hat” to the Hispanic language and cultural traditions in New Mexico.  This is the 20th year for “Artes des Descartes”.  The exhibition will run for 2 weeks at the Stables Gallery in the Taos Historic District.

Ms. Larson created the exhibition around the concepts of re-use, recycle and repurpose. The show has gained in popularity and is featured as a 2-page spread in the "Taos News" each year.  The exhibition showcases a diversity of creativity, expression and talents from artists working with a wide variety of found, discarded, recycled, re-purposed materials & media.

 She is also the founder of "Wholly Rags"; a non-profit specializing in recycling fabrics, teaching sewing, design, quilting, fabric construction, and, the sales of wall hangings, quilts and accessories.

OPENING:  Saturday September 26 from 4-8 pm.   Because of CV19 restrictions this will be a “soft opening” with only 10 viewers allowed inside the gallery at a time.  Facial coverings are required in Taos.

DAYS & HOURS:  Sunday, Sept 27 through Sunday, October 4.   Daily hours - 10 am to 5 pm.

LOCATION:  Stables Gallery is located at 133 Paseo del Pueblo Norte in the Taos Historic District.  The “Stables” are the original adobe buildings that formerly housed 2 stables with tack room and office.

June 2020 -   Five Paintings selected for "Taos Art Insurgency - 2020" Exhibition



Latilla Series - "Summer Sunset Rose"  Acrylics on canvas, 30"T x 40"W


Five paintings from the "Latilla" series were selected for the "Taos Artist Insurgency - 2020".  This exhibition was juried by three Taos galleries and features artists from across the USA.

Wilder Nightingale Fine Art, Dragonfly Blue Gallery, and Greg Moon Art of Taos host this national show. The three-galley show will have a regular juried section. In addition, each gallery will also pick designated “Director’s Choice” invitational pieces. The show will run July 18th – August 2nd with an opening on July 18th.

April 2020 -   "TAOS is ART" - 2020 Banner Competition Winner


My image "Summer Sunset Yellow; w/ Jemez Mtns." selected for the "2020 Taos Banner Competition".  Sixty artists from Taos County were selected for their work to appear on street banners & posters thru October.  The Taos Arts Council Business Consortium adopted the theme "Taos Vision 2020, Return to the Land, Water and Sky" as their overall marketing theme.  Entries from over 300 artists were submitted this year.
